I enjoy taking pictures in both color and Black and White but
find that B&W reduces the photography to the impact of the subject vice the
impact of color. The tones of grays with black and white in-between give the
subject feeling and a sense of mood. Even simple everyday objects can take
on an “artsy” feeling that would be lost if done in color. The lines of a
door or the shadows on concrete take on a whole new meaning.
The images in
this exhibit represent two of my favorite places that I love to photograph,
the Islands of Hawaii and the country of Thailand. Both places can become
overwhelming in photographic opportunities, one must slow the pace down and
enjoy the surroundings before you just run completely out of film.
