I have used this Location for a few of my Class Workshops

Hawaii's Plantation Village reveals the story of the 400,000 people who immigrated to Hawaii to work the sugar plantations. The Plantation features 30 original and replica homes and buildings representing each ethnic group's lifestyle from 1900-1930.

Located at 94-695 Waipahu St. Waipahu Directions: Take H1 West bound. Get off at exit 7 (Waikele/Waipahu) Turn left. Turn right on Waipahu St. The Plantation Village will be on your left. In the Oahu Map Book map 55 has it listed as Waipahu Cultural Park. If you need more info. HPV 808-677-0110.

As you can see I do shoot color film most of you who know me think I only shoot in B&W. The above images are from my stock collection. These I took a few years ago I have a few B&W but not scanned in. As you can see by a few of my examples this place has a lot of photographic opportunities. In the past I just took the guided tour and shoot as quickly as possible and kept up with the group. I have made arrangements with the park for a "photo tour" no photos will/can be used commercially but we will need to stay as a group.

Equipment recommendations: I find it hard to try to shot a complete building and try to focus on intimate details in and around the buildings using a 110 -200mm lens. If you have a wide angle lens surly bring it for the one or two buildings that can be separated from the rest. Some of the better shots might be indoors were you might want to use a bounce flash off the ceilings. I tried this in the Chinese's Temple but everything came out pink... must of been the red ceiling. Most of the other interiors are lighter in color and will work well. The best way to shoot the interiors is to use a tripod. The tough decision " Color or B&W" this gets down to personal taste both will have a lot of shots. Me I will probably have at least two cameras loaded with both just so I don't miss anything.

After the shoot there are picnic tables right on the grounds for our lunch get together.
